Consultant in Cardiology

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Cardiology on either a Substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Cardiology department.

Department and Team

You will join the interventional cardiology team at the main site, comprising 6 full-time and 1 part-time consultants. The successful candidate with suitable experience will have the opportunity to join the TAVI team full-time to support an expansion aiming to increase procedural volume to over 220 cases per year. The team includes 4 interventional cardiologists, a cardiac surgeon, a full MDT, dedicated interventional trainees, and two nurse case managers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Participate in primary PCI and acute interventional cardiology on-call rota (expected frequency 1:6.5).
2. Provide, alongside colleagues, a regional and trust-based cardiology service, including diagnosis and management of TAVI patients.
3. Participate in the general cardiology acute admissions rota.
4. Engage in departmental academic and teaching sessions, including catheter lab training for trainees.
5. Contribute to clinical audit, research, and service development.
