Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit was completed in 2018, extension of a Neonatal Unit and an approved plan to build a brand new, state of the art Emergency Department which commenced in 2021

The appointee must be able to demonstrate experience in broad range of Anaesthetic specialities including good experience in obstetrics and paediatric anaesthesia.
There are opportunities to develop special interests in Anaesthetic Simulation, Bariatric Anaesthesia, Pre Assessments, ENT/Airway, Paediatrics, Perioperative Medicine and Regional Anaesthesia.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities The working week is comprised of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), a further 2 Additional PAs is negotiable, with each PA having a nominal timetable value of 4 hours. This will comprise of 8.5 PAs on Direct Clinical Care with 1.5 PAs on Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). A job plan and work schedule will set out agreed arrangements for how work is organised, where it is located, what in general terms the work comprises and when it is to be performed.
For this post "direct clinical care" (DCC) (work relating directly to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of illness) includes theatre work, pre and post-operative visiting, emergency work, outpatient pre-assessment activities, and administration directly related to the above, day time and out of hours.
"Supporting professional activities" (SPA) (that underpin direct clinical care) include participation in training, medical education, continuous professional development, formal teaching, audit, clinical management and local clinical governance activities.
