Applications are invited for the post of consultant dermatologist to work with an established team of 5 consultants and a specialist doctor within the dermatology directorate. The appointee will have clinical responsibilities at JCUH, Middlesbrough and UHNT, Stockton-on-Tees. Applicants should be suitably qualified and experienced in dermatology. The post is advertised for 10 sessions per week, but consideration would be given to those wishing to work fewer sessions.
There will be opportunity to develop a subspeciality interest according to individual expertise.
The department of dermatology provides a full range of outpatient services for patients with both inflammatory and malignant skin disorders and access to inpatient care. The department serves a population of 720,000, covering the Tees Valley and the contiguous parts of South Durham and North Yorkshire.
Specialist services include paediatric dermatology, genodermatoses clinics, joint vulval and gynaecology clinics, laser, patch testing, photodynamic therapy and complex medical dermatology clinics.
Main duties of the jobA formal job plan will be agreed between the appointee and their clinical director on behalf of the medical director three months after the commencement date of the appointment. The job plan should be reviewed annually. It will cover all aspects of a consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities, including a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. It should include personal objectives, including details of their link to wider service objectives and details of the support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives. See Appendix A. General clinic templates generally include 5 new patients and 10 follow up patients within a 4 hour session.

- Be actively involved in the management of the department including attendance at monthly directorate and senior dermatologists' meeting.
- Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all consultants) and revalidation. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
- Involvement in research - the department is actively engaged in several NIHR and CRN research projects.
- The Trust supports requirements for continuing professional development as laid down by the Royal Colleges and is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities.
- Support the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching commitments of the department.
- Any other appropriate duties which may be required.

Person Specification Qualifications and Experience- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Relevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
- Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
- Wide general dermatology and skin cancer experience
- Evidence of clinical audit
- Experience of supervising resident medical staff
- Teaching skills/experience
- Evidence of research or innovative service development
