Job Description
Consultant Breast Radiologist

This is an opportunity to apply for a new breast radiologist post, joining a supportive team of five experienced breast consultant radiologists. The post is made to fill retirements in the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

Main duties
  • Screening and symptomatic breast imaging at Worcester Breast Unit and Alexandra Hospital Breast Unit.
  • Perform mammography, breast and axillary ultrasound for rapid access breast clinics.
  • Mammographic reporting and diagnostic breast and axillary ultrasound.
  • Image guided (mammographic or ultrasound) markings, localisations, biopsies and ultrasound guided breast drainage.
  • Film reading and reporting of screening and symptomatic breast MRI, with remote reporting to Wye Valley Trust.
  • Provide remote working via home workstation for MDT prep, symptomatic reporting, review and teaching.
  • Annual/study leave cover across Worcester Acute Trust.
  • Active participation in multi disciplinary meetings.
Job responsibilities
  • Provide clinical service to patients of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and General Practitioners.
  • Attend multi disciplinary meetings and work within multi disciplinary teams delivering high quality care across three sites.
  • Support A&E and acute medicine to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Consult and advise clinical colleagues in the Trust and Primary Care.
Person Specification Management and Administrative Experience
  • Organise and prioritise workload effectively.
  • Advise on efficient specialist service running.
  • Manage outpatient priorities and lead the specialty firm and multi disciplinary team.
  • Conduct and manage clinical audit.
  • Use evidence based audit to support decision making.
Teaching Experience
  • Teach clinical skills to medical, nursing staff and other disciplines.
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate clinical skills.
  • Supervise postgraduate research.

Research Experience

  • Publications in relevant peer reviewed journals within last 5 years.

Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to practise.
  • Entry on Specialist Register in Radiology (or expected within 6 months of interview).
  • Successful Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or overseas equivalent.
Experience
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Radiology.
  • Expert clinical opinion on a range of problems - emergency and elective.
  • Independent responsibility for patient clinical care.
  • Sub specialty expertise, including vacuum assisted biopsy, excision procedures and breast MRI.

Salary: £113,565 to £150,569 per year (on call availability supplement where applicable).
