Role PurposeBCP Council is committed to and has made significant investment in building up its Community Safety capacity to support the BCP Community Safety Partnership with an ambitious strategy and action plan to realise our vision 'to make Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole a safer and healthier place where communities and businesses thrive and where residents and visitors feel safe and welcomed'.
Main Responsibilities- Support the Council's Community Safety with a particular focus on Prevent and Protect.
- Deliver the Prevent strategy and plans through participation within multi agency groups and meetings, engagement with Council services, and regional, national and local agencies.
- Assist and support with the training element of the strategy and agreed Prevent training framework.
- Undertake a range of Community Safety projects, support current local initiatives and be a core contributor to new and developing initiatives working closely with partners such as Dorset Police.
- Support the Community Safety Manager and Community Safety Team Leader across a range of work, mainly focusing on preventing violent extremism, exploitation and other emerging issues.
- Engage with a wide range of people and services, working as part of a fast paced team with varied workstreams, and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
You will have the following:
- Great interpersonal skills, flexibility and familiarity with the Microsoft suite including MS Teams, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience arranging meetings and taking minutes and actions, delivering presentations and independently prioritising your workload.
- A dynamic and innovative team player who enjoys supporting others to work alongside us in strategic project work with a particular emphasis on Prevent and Protect.
- Degree educated or equivalent and at least three years of relevant experience regarding some of the subject matters mentioned.
- Willingness to work from BCP Civic Centre on a hybrid basis, working flexible hours and being available to attend meetings at other locations in the Council area when required.
The successful candidate will also be required to complete an appropriate level of Disclosure & Barring Service Check.
