Consultant Community Pediatrician - Thurrock - South West Essex

Contract

10 Programmed Activities (10 PAs). Full time with flexible working options, including job share, part time and remote sessions considered.

Base Location

Thurrock Community Hospital, Long Lane, Grays, RM16 2PX.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior medical support and direct clinical input to the community paediatric team.
• Work closely with the 0.8 wte Consultant Paediatrician (Dr Kaushik Banerjee) and the 1.8 wte Specialist Grade Doctor (recruitment pending).
• Guide and supervise clinical staff, including paediatric trainees and medical students from local universities.
• Deliver direct care to babies, children and young people, and engage families in decision making.
• Liaise with external health providers and acute hospitals, strengthening links with Basildon University Hospital.
• Support the development and delivery of integrated child health services across Thurrock.

Accountability

Professionally and clinically accountable to the Associate Medical Director (Dr Viviana Porcari) and operationally to the Director of Children Services, Essex & Kent via the Assistant Director.

On Call

No night on call. Daytime rota 9am 5pm for child protection medical examinations.

Qualifications

• MRCPCH by examination or equivalent.

Experience

• At least 2 years of General Professional Training in paediatrics.
• Experience working in NHS.
