Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Interim Communications Officer to support the delivery of strategic communications for a large public sector organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a communications professional with expertise in stakeholder engagement, media relations, and reputation management within a complex organisational environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering corporate communications strategies, managing both internal and external communications, and ensuring consistent branding across the organisation. You will also provide communications support for high-profile projects and offer expert advice during sensitive or high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of corporate communications and marketing strategies.
  • Deliver engaging internal and external communications across a variety of channels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Protect and enhance the organisation's reputation through proactive communications and effective issue management.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on communications activity, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations and communications materials for a range of audiences.
  • Ensure brand consistency while promoting accessible and inclusive communications.
  • Provide communications support during crisis situations and other high-profile issues.
Key Requirements
  • Previous experience in a communications, marketing or public affairs role.
  • Strong project management and public relations experience.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders within a complex organisation.
  • Experience monitoring communications activity, analysing performance and producing insightful reports.
  • Demonstrable experience managing communications during sensitive or crisis situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Experience working within a politically sensitive or highly regulated environment is highly desirable.
