Job Title: Communications Lead
Location: Southampton (on-site a few times per week)
Day Rate: £525-£550 (Inside IR35)
Contract Type: Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Communications Lead to drive strategic and operational communications across a large, complex organisation. This role requires a confident communicator who can shape messaging, engage stakeholders at all levels, and support key transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver clear, consistent, and engaging communication strategies aligned to business objectives

  • Lead internal communications for major programmes, ensuring messaging is timely and impactful

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to understand priorities and translate them into effective communications

  • Create high-quality content across multiple channels (eg email, Intranet, presentations, leadership briefings)

  • Manage communication plans, ensuring alignment with wider organisational messaging

  • Support change and transformation initiatives through targeted communication activities

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications, making data-driven improvements

  • Provide guidance and support to leadership on communication best practices


Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Communications Lead or similar role within a large organisation

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience supporting change or transformation programmes

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strategic thinker with strong attention to detail

  • Proficiency in using a variety of communication tools and platforms


Desirable Experience

  • Background in professional services, consulting, or corporate environments

  • Experience working within regulated or complex organisational structures


Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid working model with presence in Southampton required a few times per week
