Salary: £88 - £110 per day

GSL Education are recruiting a specialist Communication Needs Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) in a Scarborough-based provision.

About the School

This specialist setting supports pupils with significant communication needs, providing a nurturing and structured environment. The school works closely with therapists and support staff to develop pupils' communication, interaction and understanding through tailored interventions.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SLCN on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Use communication strategies to support learning and engagement
• Assist with speech and language interventions
• Encourage interaction, confidence and independence
• Work alongside teaching staff and external professionals

Requirements

• Experience supporting pupils with SLCN / communication needs
• Knowledge of strategies such as Makaton, PECS or similar desirable
• Patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
• Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection; must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
