The Opportunity

The Commissioning Engineer will lead and execute advanced commissioning activities across mission critical projects, with a focus on BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems. This role goes beyond field validation, requiring the ability to diagnose system issues, modify and develop control logic, and support system integration during commissioning and delivery phases.

Working closely with Engineering, Integration, and Operations teams, you will play a key role in ensuring systems are not only installed correctly, but functionally robust, fully integrated, and aligned with design intent and operational requirements.

This position is ideal for an experienced commissioning professional with strong controls expertise, capable of bridging the gap between design, software, and field execution in high availability environments.

This position is ideal for professionals who value accountability, technical rigor, and hands on execution in environments where safety, performance, and reliability matter every day.

What You'll Do Core Responsibilities
  • Lead commissioning activities for BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems across mission critical / data centre projects
  • Perform advanced system validation including point to point checks, functional testing, and integrated systems testing (IST)
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex system issues across controls, networking, and field devices
  • Modify, develop, and optimise PLC logic and SCADA/BMS software during commissioning phases
  • Support system integration between mechanical, electrical, and control systems to ensure cohesive operation
  • Validate control sequences under normal, failure, and redundancy scenarios (including failover testing)
  • Support and lead Level 3-5 commissioning activities, including client witnessing and sign off
  • Review design documentation, control narratives, and software to ensure alignment with field implementation
  • Produce and maintain detailed commissioning reports, test scripts, and issue logs
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to align scope, schedule, and deliverables
  • Communicate clearly and proactively with internal teams, customers, and partners
  • Identify and elevate risks, constraints, or scope changes early
Quality, Safety & Process
  • Adhere to company policies, QMS requirements, and established safety standards
  • Deliver accurate, high quality results with strong attention to detail
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to stronger execution and efficiency
What We're Looking For Education & Experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Automation, or related discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in commissioning, controls engineering, or system integration
  • Strong experience in mission critical / data centre environments
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of BMS, EPMS, PLC, and SCADA systems (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, Schneider)
  • Experience developing or modifying PLC code and SCADA/BMS graphics during live project environments
  • Understanding of electrical systems, control architectures, and networked systems
  • Ability to interpret and validate control sequences, schematics, and design documentation
  • Proven troubleshooting capability across software, hardware, and integration layers
  • Experience with commissioning processes including FAT, SAT, and IST (Level 1-5)
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage priorities in fast paced, high pressure environments
  • Strong problem solving and decision making capability
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and accountability
  • Willingness to travel and work on site as required
What You'll Get
  • Competitive compensation with annual bonus opportunity
  • In house and external technical training opportunities
  • Exposure to complex, high impact automation projects
  • A collaborative culture built on integrity, accountability, and teamwork
