Location: Orwell Logistics Park, Ipswich (Hybrid: 2-3 days per week from home) Type: Full-time, Permanent

Help deliver one of the UK's most complex and ambitious infrastructure programmes.

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) - a partnership between Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues and Balfour Beatty - is delivering the full civils scope of Sizewell C, one of the UK's largest and most high-profile nuclear projects.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take ownership of the commercial performance of a defined section within the SZC Civil Works Alliance - from Target Outturn Cost (TOC) development through to delivery and final account.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring robust financial control, effective risk and change management, and strong supply chain governance, while championing Health & Safety, sustainability, and digital ways of working. Acting as a trusted partner to Delivery Leadership, you will provide clear commercial insight, manage key stakeholder relationships, and safeguard the project's contractual and financial position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion Health & Safety across all commercial activities.
  • Support delivery of project sustainability objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with Alliance governance, processes and procedures.
  • Identify efficiency and value engineering opportunities to enhance project outcomes.
  • Proactively manage commercial risk, opportunity and issue resolution.
  • Monitor economic factors and assess their impact on project performance.
  • Ensure accurate review and reporting of commercial, cost and Earned Value data.
  • Support preparation of Target Outturn Costs (TOCs), submissions and work package requirements.
  • Provide timely and accurate commercial reporting to the Delivery Leadership Team.
  • Support procurement planning and coordinate effective supply chain management.
  • Represent the project's commercial and contractual interests in meetings and forums.
  • Administer subcontract agreements, ensuring effective change management and cost recovery.
  • Minimise disputes through proactive package management and early issue identification.
  • Contribute to team development through mentoring, feedback and cross-functional collaboration.
About You
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong stakeholder management capability, particularly with external suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex commercial matters clearly.
  • Sound understanding of construction law.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams.
  • Strong collaborative skills with experience operating within matrix organisations.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members.
  • MRICS (or working towards).
  • NEC3/NEC4 contract experience.
