What you'll be doing
  • Direct and lead the company's commercial activities with strategic suppliers
  • Manage and develop commercial-facing teams in both supplier and customer environments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with principals, suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure all commercial activities meet the highest safety, ethical, and compliance standards
  • Represent the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments, and other key contacts
  • Analyse opportunities and challenges that could affect short- and long-term business performance
  • Lead recruitment, development, and retention of high-performing commercial teams
  • Collaborate closely with HR to align people and commercial initiatives
  • Oversee the annual sales and margin budget to ensure targets are met
  • Ensure commercial interests are represented in company risk reviews and group policies

What you'll bring

Essential:
  • Extensive experience in the chemical industry, particularly in manufacturing and supply
  • Previous knowledge of Personal Care, Detergents, and Pharmaceuticals
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, and communication skills
  • Ability to balance conflicting interests while meeting statutory requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' senior-level management experience, leading people and resources
  • Proven track record of success in senior general or commercial management
  • Graduate level of intellect, with a higher degree or professional management qualification
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of climate change impacts on the chemical industry
  • Strong understanding of the personal care and HI&I contract manufacturing sectors
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365
