Job Description:

We are looking for an Engineer with a background ideally in Savings and Payments related systems with a strong technical skillset, curious mindset, and desire to learn.

You'll have the opportunity to:

1. Develop, document, and test software and configuration, ensuring they adhere to development standards and meet business requirements. You'll be technically competent and experienced in applicable technologies and platforms.
2. Maintain systems by analysing programs to diagnose and resolve live defects/incidents.
3. Participate in peer reviews of documentation, code, unit, and integration testing.
4. Collaborate with architects, analysts, and product owners to transform business requirements into technical change, including performing impact analysis.
5. Continually update technical knowledge and skills using internal training as well as taking time to self-develop.
6. Perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs.
7. Ensure that system design meets the standard for architecture, scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.

You will have:

1. Knowledge of one or more of the core technologies which form the basis of YBS's Savings and Finance landscape, including:
2. Cobol ideally using a COBOL IT compiler, Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, Forms, and Perforce.
3. Strong documentation skills for granular level understanding of the processing in some key database packages and Cobol modules.
4. Ability to interpret complex information to develop solutions that meet the required business outcomes.
5. Great communicator finding ways for non-technical people to understand technical concepts.
6. Experience delivering software change within Financial Services and an awareness of operating in a highly regulated environment.

Desirable skills:

1. Knowledge, understanding, and experience of developing software in a DevOps delivery methodology setting.
