Azure Cloud Engineer Engineer - 7-Month Contract - Amsterdam

Join the Cloud Enablement Team at our client, and help empower application teams in their journey to Azure. This is a unique opportunity for an Azure Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on expertise and a consultative mindset to play a dual role: both building and advising.

You'll act as a technical consultant, guiding internal teams through their cloud journey-from early-phase Cloud Adoption Assessments (5R's) to proof-of-concepts and full solution design. You will help define learning paths, co-create reference architectures and secure landing zones, and support the adoption of Azure-native solutions across the organization. By building and maintaining reusable Azure Verified Modules (AVMs), you'll enable scalable, self-service delivery of cloud patterns while also developing tooling for logging, monitoring, security, and automation. Your work will contribute to the development of platform services like managed container orchestration and help align the teams with the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework. You'll also support the broader enablement effort through training, coaching, community sessions, and internal events such as hackathons.

Skills

• 5+ years in software/cloud engineering, including 2+ years focused on Azure
• Skilled in Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep, PowerShell, CLI, or Bash)
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Services (eg, Azure Functions, Data Factory, SQL DB, Data Lake, Cosmos DB)
• Experienced with containerization, serverless architecture, and cloud-native design
• Confident navigating security, compliance, and operational best practices in Azure
• Familiar with enterprise-level governance (guard-railed subscriptions)
• Strong consultancy skills with the ability to coach and challenge teams constructively
• A collaborative mindset with self-awareness around humility, hunger, and people smarts

Nice to Have

• Programming experience in Python or C#
• Experience with APIs and microservices
• Relevant Azure certifications (DevOps Engineer Expert, Solutions Architect, Data Engineer)
