The post holder will have a high level of autonomy and will work in a self-directed way within the parameters set for the post. The post holder will prioritise their workload and make the necessary contributions to ensure delivery of an effective and efficient service.
The post holder will be expected to utilise expert operational and clinical knowledge as necessary to undertake the site management role to train and support nursing, medical and non-medical staff, establish clinical priorities and ensure the smooth operational function of the organisation. The post holder should monitor and manage patient flow through the system to improve patient flow and experience by achieving the national & local KPIs.
To provide out of hour co ordination role of on site services, working with staff to ensure that all services within the hospital are being delivered to an agreed standard.
Main duties of the jobDeputize for the matron of site in leading daily operational meetings.
To monitor the patient flow through the Emergency Department using the Medway system and ensure 2 hourly safety huddles are completed with ED the team.
Work collaboratively with the discharge team to facilitate the timely discharge of patients, ensuring the early utilisation of the discharge lounge for those patients who meet the criteria.
Ensure that all available capacity is used appropriately across the hospital in order to minimise the need for any escalation measures.
The post holder should regularly review the OPEL escalation triggers by using flow chart to alert and ensure the actions are followed.
To be the immediate co coordinator on the Acute site emergency response to Fire, Major Incidents, Out of hours Security alerts and Serious Untoward Incidents.
To understand and implement each level of the Trust's Bed Management Policy working in conjunction with divisions, ensuring that all necessary parties are informed and involved as appropriate.
To advise on bed utilisation across the trust during the management of any pandemic illness/major incident, and liaise with infection prevention and control teams (IPC) regarding utilisation of single rooms / identification for infective cases.
Job responsibilitiesThe Clinical Site Manager has specific responsibilities in relation to the Mental Health Act and will act as the point of contact and co ordination within the Trust. The Clinical Site Manager is responsible for accessing and retaining the required documentation, which will be stored in the Clinical Site Managers office.
The Clinical Site Manager will Ensure patients privacy and dignity is maintained in line with the Trusts same sex accommodation policy, promoting a zero tolerance for breaches.
Work in collaboration with Emergency Planning colleagues to ensure that systems are in place to support major incident and business continuity planning.
The post holder is responsible to update trust escalation status in the Capacity Monitoring System (CMS) and liaise with EBS if trust require any specialist beds.
Out of hours take responsibility for the intra departmental and/or ward redeployment of staff following risk assessments to mitigate any identified or potential risks.
Escalate and clinical issues to respective teams by filtering doctors bleep calls from wards and departments to facilitate timely interventions at the earliest opportunity taking into consideration local arrangements.
Assess and initiate treatment for deteriorating patients as appropriate.
Undertake a wide range of advanced clinical interventions which include the extended role of the Registered Nurse, e.g. Cannulation, venepuncture, male catheterisation.
To provide senior nursing support in the event of a clinical emergency out of hours which may require leading the emergency team as first responder in any area of the hospital site while waiting for assistance.
Person Specification Education & professional Qualifications- Recognised teaching certificate e.g. ENB 998, Teaching and Assessing

- To work autonomously and plan own work schedule
- Excellent organisational skills
- Relevant post registration experience at Band 6 or 7 Level
- Expert knowledge of current emergency care issues and targets.
- Knowledge and understanding of health care needs in a multicultural society.
- Clinical leadership programme.
