Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services, you will play a crucial role as the Clinical Psychologist, focusing on the psychological assessment of our patients. Your contributions will include:

  • becoming an integral member of the MDT, sharing your expert insights to empower clinicians in meeting patients' psychological needs.
  • providing evidence based psychological support, including CBT, through individual and group sessions.
  • collaborating with the team's behavioural scientist to develop engaging written and audiovisual resources for patients about health behaviour changes, along with psychology related educational materials for clinicians and mentors.
  • being actively involved in clinical governance activities, service meetings, clinical audits, development and observation of service standards, improvement initiatives, and adhering to local and national guidelines as required.
  • conducting psychological evaluations of patients and making referrals to external mental health support as needed, while coordinating with primary care.
  • leading the assessment, formulation, and psychological treatment of patients with disordered eating traits and co occurring mental health difficulties, taking clinical responsibility for complex cases.
  • providing guidance to colleagues and supporting the MDT in assisting patients to explore their emotional connections with food and address the challenges of weight management.
  • ensuring all patients are protected from potential harm and conducting activities in line with professional standards, policies, and legislation.

Essential
  • At least 2:1 honours degree in Psychology and a British Psychological Society accredited Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, with current UK licence to practice and registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council).
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent proficiency in English language
  • Experience of working at least band 8a level and able to operate as an independent practitioner
  • Experience in the formulation and implementation of formal psychological treatment including CBT and counselling.
  • Experience of working in weight management, long term conditions or bariatric services
  • Up to date knowledge across broad areas of mental health, and knowledge of evidence based practice
  • Working knowledge of legislation & its implications for both clinical practice & professional management in relation to the client group & mental health
  • High levels of self motivation, commitment to high quality patient centred specialist provision.
  • Flexible and accommodating while keeping clear focus on overall goal. Ability to sustain self and support others. Ability to work as part of MDT.

  • This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions
Desirable
  • Experience of working in digital health, remote healthcare or a health tech startup
  • Experience of developing clinical services
  • Prior quality, data analytics and managed care experience

  • Part time (0.2 FTE / 8 hours per week) to Full time (1.0 FTE / 40 hours per week) will be considered
