Job Description

We're looking for people who share our values (compassion, accountability and optimism) to help us provide high quality care to the patients, carers, families and local communities we serve. We specialise in providing NHS mental health and learning disability services.

What we offer

We are an organization that puts people first. We will help you feel respected, valued and included. We support your learning, skill acquisition, and career development. You will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for service improvement.

Join a health and care system committed to collaboration and making a difference in our communities. At Sussex Partnership, you can truly impact the lives of patients, carers, and families.

We are committed to your development, offering fully funded lifelong learning opportunities, including apprenticeships from GCSE to Masters level.

If this appeals to you, we invite you to join our team.

Job overview

We seek an experienced, trauma-informed senior clinical psychologist to join our innovative Multi-agency and Integrated Service between Brighton & Hove County Council and Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust. You will work within the Partners in Change Hub in Brighton & Hove Family and Children's Services, recently rated 'outstanding' by Ofsted (2024). The team is multidisciplinary, including Psychiatric Nurses, Substance Misuse specialists, Social Workers, and Lead Practitioners, dedicated to high-quality, collaborative care.

Main duties

The service provides assessments and interventions for families involved in child protection, safeguarding, and care proceedings, addressing issues like substance misuse, mental health, sexual risk, learning difficulties, and domestic violence. The role includes assessments and interventions for adults with complex needs, often related to their own childhood and adult trauma.

Working for our organization

The role balances consultation, psychological and cognitive assessments, and direct therapeutic work. You will develop skills in working with complex trauma and contribute to trauma-informed practice development, staff training, and service monitoring. You will engage with various interest groups, support anti-racist practices, and develop reflective, formulation-driven approaches within a social work context. Collaboration with the legal team and involvement in service development through audits and steering groups are also key aspects.

Responsibilities

This role involves working with families to improve outcomes for children under protection plans and pre-proceedings, balancing needs between children and adults. You should be confident in risk assessment and management, and capable of providing verbal and written professional opinions. The role includes consulting with social workers and sharing your expertise within the team. Part-time options are available.
