Job Description
Clinical Nurse Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding and growing Kingston & Richmond CAMHS Single Point of Access (SPA) Service. We are looking for a committed CAMHS Clinical Nurse Specialist who is passionate about working with children and young people with complex presentations, and who is also interested in wider service development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide specialist assessments of young children and their parents/carers referred to the service, using psychological measures, structured observations and semi-structured interviews in line with CYP IAPT methodology.
  2. Formulate and implement evidence based intervention plans to improve the parent/child relationship.
  3. Implement a range of psychotherapeutic interventions, adjusting and refining formulations based on evidence.
  4. Evaluate and decide on treatment options, considering historical and developmental factors.
  5. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment and discharge of clients managed by psychological standard care plans.
  6. Provide specialist mental health advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals.
  7. Use evidence based integrated working tools and processes to ensure holistic services.
  8. Undertake risk assessment and risk management for children and their parents/carers.
  9. Communicate information concerning assessment, formulation and treatment plans with parents/carers.
  10. Monitor progress during interventions, ensuring assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation align with CYP IAPT minimum dataset standards.
  11. Maintain accurate and accessible health care records per Trust policy and Information Governance.
  12. Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills with all agencies.
Qualifications
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, registered with the NMC.
  • Training as part of a CYP IAPT collaborative in a recognised evidence based approach.
Competencies & Skills
  • Experience working with children and young people in diverse settings.
  • Experience working within multi disciplinary teams and with multi agency professionals.
  • Ability to relate and provide accessible services to a diverse community.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced SPA environment with strong IT and computer recording skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in risk assessment, management and safeguarding.
  • Ability to deliver evidence based interventions.
Person Specification
  • Experience of multi disciplinary team working.
  • Experience of inter agency working.
  • Experience of safeguarding and Child Protection.
  • Experience of leading case reviews.
  • Experience of working in the NHS.
  • Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups.
Contract

Fixed term, 12 months.

Working Pattern

Full-time.

Location

Kingston and Richmond Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Woodroffe House, Tolworth Hospital, Red Lion Road.

Salary

£55,524 to £62,652 per annum inclusive of Outer London HCAs.
