Job Description

We are hiring aClinical Nurse Manager IIIin a Hospital in Galway, Ireland. 34.5 hour per week Part-Time permanent contract

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of exceptional nursing care, ensuring high clinical standards and effective management of nursing services throughout the hospital.
  • Oversee the implementation of hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines while fostering a culture of patient safety, accountability, and professional excellence.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, review, and implement evidence-based policies, protocols, and service improvements that enhance patient outcomes.
  • Supervise patient flow and hospital operations during out-of-hours periods, ensuring efficient resource utilisation and achievement of agreed service performance targets.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership during emergencies by supporting frontline staff, managing deteriorating patients, and ensuring timely communication and escalation when required.
  • Promote continuous professional development by mentoring nursing staff, supporting clinical education, and encouraging the adoption of evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives through performance monitoring, data analysis, service evaluation, and the implementation of corrective actions to enhance patient care.
  • Manage patient complaints, clinical concerns, and operational challenges promptly, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions to improve service quality.
  • Support strategic planning and organisational change by contributing to nursing service development, leading quality initiatives, and preparing reports to guide informed decision-making.
  • Ensure full compliance with professional, regulatory, accreditation, and legislative requirements while actively participating in governance, quality assurance, and hospital committee activities.
Requirements
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current registration, or eligible for registration, with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Minimum of 7 years' post-registration nursing experience, preferably within an acute hospital setting.
  • Previous nursing management experience and/or a recognised management qualification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication, organisational, and decision-making skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge and competencies.
  • Ability to promote a culture of compassion, respect, accountability, and excellence while upholding the hospital's core values.
  • Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance within healthcare services.
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing priorities, and responding effectively to clinical and operational challenges.
  • Flexible to work a roster covering seven days per week, including out-of-hours duties, in line with service requirements.
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in Nursing Management, or active progression towards one, is an advantage.
