We are hiring a Clinical Nurse Manager II to join our team on a permanent full time contract. The CNM2 has a pivotal role in service planning, coordinating, and managing activity and resources within the Oncology Day Unit. The CNM2 will coordinate and lead in the implementation and provision of quality care.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Analyze workloads and skill requirements to meet patient care needs.
- Assess staff competencies and make patient care assignments.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to personnel, consistent with legal and professional guidelines and departmental standards.
- Maintain clear communications with the CNM3 regarding unit needs and/or incidents.
- Provide necessary supervision, coordination and deployment of nursing and support staff to ensure optimum delivery of care in the designated area through allocating work fairly and competently.
- Manage communication and facilitate team building.
- Provide staff leadership and motivation conducive to good working relations and performance.
- Manage all resources efficiently and effectively, liaising with Operations Manager on service provisions and areas of need.
- Lead on practice development within the clinical area.
- Lead and implement change.
- Promote, facilitate and participate in the development of nursing policies and procedures; monitor as appropriate and lead on proactive improvement.
- Contribute to the formulation, development and implementation of policies and procedures at area and hospital level.
- Maintain all necessary clinical and administrative records and reporting arrangements.
- Carry out the Engagement and Competency Process with all nursing staff.
- Familiarise themselves with policies, procedures and guidelines directly related to their clinical care and area.
- Assist in the review of policies, procedures and guidelines under the direction of the chapter lead/department manager.
- Manage patient care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, care planning approach.
- Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership.
- Be responsible for the coordination, assessment, planning, delivery and review of service user care by all staff in the designated area.
- Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users within the guidelines laid out by NMBI (Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland).
- Participate in teams/meetings/committees as appropriate, communicating and working in cooperation with other team members.
- Facilitate coordination, cooperation and liaison across healthcare teams.
- Collaborate with service users, family, carers and other staff in treatment/care.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care by personal involvement and supervising the activities of other qualified nurses.
- Ensure that the care delivered by the team is based on standards, which have been formulated on evidence based practice and agreed through hospital policy.
- Regularly evaluate and monitor patient care using the hospital's quality systems to ensure that care is delivered.
- Develop and promote good relationships with patients, families and carers and make the ward environmentally welcoming and homely.
- Work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team promoting good teamwork and excellent patient care.
- Evaluate and further develop the philosophy, objectives and goals of the department.
- Ensure that all staff are familiar with the use and care of all equipment, and that such equipment is maintained in good working condition.
- Ensure strict confidentiality of information regarding patients/residents is adhered to.
- There may be a requirement to work in other areas of the hospital in line with patient requirements as requested by line manager/deputy or nurse management.
- Staff must produce satisfactory documentary evidence of all training and experience claimed by them, if required by the organisation.
- Respect the organisational values of the Hospital.
- Postgraduate or equivalent qualification in Oncology.
- Completed a management course.
- Display evidence of continuing professional development.
- Advanced Life Support qualification or commitment to obtain same.
- Four years of working in the oncology setting with at least two years of management experience.
- Registered or eligible for registration in the General Division of the live Register of Nurses kept by NMBI.
- Minimum of two years' experience within a management position; ideally three years' experience working within an oncology department.
- Demonstrate awareness of HR policies and procedures.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- Experience in change management.
- Active role in continuous improvement programme using lean tools and methodology.
- Competence in IV/Oral Chemotherapy administration.
- Competence in accessing, maintaining & care of CVAD devices.
- Competence in IV Cannulation & Venepuncture.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven track record in nursing management at a senior level.
- Preceptorship/teaching and assessment of students and junior staff.
- Experience in the implementation of service improvement and development.
- Experience working with Electronic Health Records.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to problem solve and use initiative.
- Ability to negotiate and resolve difficult clinical, operational and interpersonal situations.
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.
- Demonstrates practitioner competence and professionalism to carry out duties.
- Practises in accordance with legislation affecting nursing practice.
- Displays evidence based clinical knowledge in decision making regarding client care.
- Commitment to continuing professional development.
- Willingness to develop IT skills relevant to the role.
- Evidence of effective planning and organising skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

Salary scale: € 62,077.17 - € 76,158.63 per annum based on a 37.5 hour week.
