Clinical Nurse Manager II - Oncology/Haematology WardSpecific Purpose Contract, Full Time Hours
Under the Governance of Mercy University Hospital Cork CLG.
The Clinical Nurse Manager II (CNM2) is an essential member of the Nurse Management Team. The role involves the implementation and evaluation of nursing services, the maintenance of the optimum clinical environment, the clinical working environment and the enhancement of an effective clinical learning environment. The post is central to the coordination and management of activity and resources within the ward.
Responsibilities- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of Oncology and Haematology patients.
- Maintenance and development of professional nursing standards.
- Management and support of all Nursing and Nursing Support staff in the clinical area in consultation with the Senior Nurse Management team.
- Maintenance of a safe environment for patients and staff within allocated resources.
- The promotion of multi-disciplinary team working to improve Oncology and Haematology patient outcomes.
- Effectively managing time and caseload to meet changing and developing service needs.
- Continuous evaluation of the Oncology/Haematology service to ensure it is effective and efficient.
- Implementing change as required to improve clinical practice.
Our Oncology/Haematology Department consists of two wards.
- St Therese's Oncology Day Unit - an Oncology Day Case Ward which operates from Monday to Friday.
- St Bernadette's Oncology/Haematology Inpatient Ward - a 5 bedded Inpatient Ward with Day Case Haematology Oncology patients.
CNM2's work a rotational roster so they work in both Wards. Rotations are usually 6 months in duration. They report to the CNM3 Oncology/Haematology Services.
Our specialties include colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, neuroendocrine, urogenital, multiple myeloma, lymphoma and chronic haematological malignancies.
Eligibility Candidate Criteria- Registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI / Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or entitled to be so registered.
- Have at least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in the speciality or related area.
- Can demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.
- Have completed a Higher Diploma Level or equivalent (Level 8) in Oncology Nursing.
- Proficient in Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) Administration.
- Possess the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
