Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our nationally recognized and respected Vascular Access Team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust.

The Vascular Access Team is a specialist nursing team that includes Clinical Nurse Specialists, Assistant Practitioners, and Clinical Support Workers. The team has been providing a service at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust for over 30 years.

We are looking to strengthen our team further and are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as a Clinical Nurse.

Within this busy clinical service, you will assist in providing specialist assessment and support for people requiring insertion and care of intravenous access devices. You will also be responsible for ultrasound-guided PICC and midline placement, cannulation, and phlebotomy. You will be an integral member of the Vascular Access Team, contributing to a trust-wide supportive service by providing expert clinical skills and knowledge for patients requiring intravenous access and IV therapy. Additionally, you will deliver trust-wide education sessions.

This role is 37.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The fundamental responsibilities include:

  1. Being NMC registered.
  2. Performing ultrasound-guided PICC, midline, and cannulation placement daily, as well as ultrasound-guided venepuncture.
  3. Supporting all members of the Vascular Access Team.
  4. Coordinating the Vascular Access Team and planning in the absence of the team leader.
  5. Managing the PICC triage clinic.
  6. Undertaking education, audit, and surveillance related to vascular access weekly.
  7. Maintaining accurate clinical records for all duties performed.

Person Specification Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrate a passion for the concept of a Vascular Access Team.
  • Be a creative, motivated team player.
  • Ability to advise individuals and groups from various professional backgrounds on intravenous therapy and care issues.
  • Able to perform peripheral cannulation, midline, and PICC placement.
Qualifications
  • First-level registration with the NMC.
  • Evidence of further professional development at a diploma level or higher.
  • Willingness to undertake further education.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development (CPD).
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Degree-level education or working towards it.
Experience
  • Experience supporting staff.
  • Experience with change management.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of the audit process.
  • Understanding of change management.
  • Knowledge of the concept of a Vascular Access Team.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum, pro-rata as applicable.
