About Us

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an organised, reliable and enthusiastic clerk interested in supporting our Governing Body to join our friendly team. We are a two-form entry, oversubscribed infant school at the heart of Copthorne Village and can offer you a new and exciting challenge in our happy school within our genuinely supportive Governing Body.

We are looking to appoint someone to join us from September 2026.

Hours per week are flexible. Meeting dates and times are set for the whole academic year. Our governing body meetings take place in the evenings from 5:30pm. More information about the pattern of our meetings is available from the school. This role is term time only and the successful candidate will be expected to clerk approximately 7-8 meetings per year.

The post involves record keeping, preparation of agendas and associated paperwork, attending meetings and taking minutes, and working with the Chair in managing the smooth and efficient running of the Governing Body. Part of the position involves learning about governance and being able to answer questions for the governing body on governance. Full training will be given.

Job Details

Salary: Grade 4 (£14.40-£14.63 per hour pending pay rise)

Contract Type: Casual, Permanent

Working Pattern: Approx. 2-3 hours a week, but candidate may need to be flexible regarding these hours

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role you will need to have:

  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Experience of preparing agendas and taking minutes at meetings
  • A reasonable level of IT skills
  • Good basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be keen to work as part of a team
