Are you a precision-focused professional with a passion for quality and safety? Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Clerk of Works to become the eyes and ears of our Capital Development team.

In this role, you aren't just "inspecting buildings" you are ensuring that our clinical environments are safe, compliant, and built to the highest standards for the patients and staff who rely on them every day.

  • Total Project Oversight: You will follow projects from RIBA Stage 3 all the way through to final handover and the 12-month warranty sign-off.

Main duties of the job Your Impactful Day-to-Day
  • On-Site Leadership: Conduct regular inspections, monitoring trade staffing levels and site progress against the master programme.
  • Safety Stewardship: Maintain the highest safety standards by issuing Permits to Work and auditing contractor safety systems.
  • Problem Solving: Identify new risks, contribute to the Project Risk Register, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Who You Are
  • Experienced & Qualified: You hold a relevant construction or engineering qualification (like an ONC/OND) and have a background in site project management.
  • Safety-Minded: You have an IOSH in safety management and a rock-solid understanding of construction regulations.
  • An Expert Communicator: You can distill complex technical data into clear reports for various audiences, from professional bodies to the public.
  • Adaptable: You thrive under pressure, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Financial Integrity: Help keep projects on budget by verifying contractor invoices and extra-work instructions.

Person Specification Knowledge
  • Knowledge and understanding of project management processes, structures and governance
  • Aware of business issues particularly within estates, for example - risks/incidents, staffing issues/retention, finances, efficiencies
Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification in construction, building, engineering, or related field (e.g., ONC/OND), or have relevant experience.
  • IOSH in safety management
Skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to collate, analyse, understand and present complex financial and programme/project information.
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to changing situations and develop solutions to meet changing and competing needs and timescales
