Join Jessie Younghusband at an exciting time - we relocated to our brand new building at Minerva Heights in September 2026. We are seeking an enthusiastic, reflective Class Teacher for Upper Key Stage 2 to deliver an ambitious, knowledge-rich curriculum.
The successful candidate will:
- Have high expectations for every child and model our values: Aspire, Respect, Enjoy.
- Plan well sequenced lessons that support retrieval of prior learning across the wider curriculum.
- Adapt teaching effectively for children with SEND, EAL and those with EHCPs.
- Support a positive transition and routines at our new site.
Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply - a structured ECT induction and mentor will be provided.

What You Need to Succeed Main purpose of the role- Plan, teach and assess well structured lessons in Upper KS2 that enable all children to make strong progress and achieve high standards, in line with the school vision: Aspire, Respect, Enjoy.
- Contribute to the continued development and implementation of an ambitious, coherent curriculum - ensuring pupils remember and retrieve prior learning across the wider curriculum.
- Support a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment at our new Minerva Heights site and contribute to establishing consistent routines and classroom organisation.
Teaching and learning
- Plan and deliver engaging, well sequenced lessons in line with the school's curriculum intent and schemes of work for Upper KS2, with a focus on writing, vocabulary development and reading comprehension.
- Use modelling, deliberate practice, retrieval practice and scaffolded differentiation so children remember and build on prior learning.
- Set high expectations for behaviour and learning; establish routines that support a calm, purposeful classroom climate.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with SEND, those with EHCPs, children who are EAL and disadvantaged pupils; target the bottom 20% with precise, evidence informed strategies.
- Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress, set ambitious next steps and inform planning; provide timely feedback children act upon.
- Contribute to the review and development of the English curriculum (writing) and support consistency of assessment across the wider curriculum to address previously identified inconsistencies.
- Participate in moderation, assessment meetings and cross phase planning to secure continuity of learning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and external professionals to secure strong outcomes for children.
- Support whole school initiatives connected to relocation (e.g., consistent classroom layout, digital technology use and new onsite routines).
- Participate in the school's appraisal process and CPD programme; engage proactively with coaching and feedback.
- Support colleagues when required and contribute positively to the life of the school (parents' evenings, whole school events and enrichment activities).
- Undertake professional duties as reasonably requested by the Headteacher.
- Comply with school policies and statutory requirements.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as reasonably required by the Headteacher.
