  • Hybrid role based in City Centre offices

This role is a 'controlled function' as defined by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 / Regulations 2011. Appointment will be conditional on meeting Central Bank Fitness and Probity standards.

Role Overview

Reporting to a Team Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of Income Protection Claims, including large and complex cases, and lead assessment and ongoing management of these claims.

Responsibilities
  • Assess new claims and decide on medical and financial requirements
  • Make decisions on new claims when all evidence has been received
  • Calculate claim benefits and manage ongoing payments
  • Manage a portfolio of high value or complex cases to a very high standard
  • Review existing claims to ensure the definition of disablement continues to be met
  • Consider rehabilitation opportunities for claimants
  • Develop a high level of technical and medical expertise
  • Lead service delivery of key team projects
  • Support the team through change processes related to new products, technology, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and implement potential improvements in service levels and quality
  • Act as key point of contact internally and externally for handling and resolving queries, and support the management team with technical input for internal & external meetings
  • Proactively manage relationships and liaise with stakeholders in the management of cases and resolution of queries
  • Coordinate monitoring of team activities and provide coaching and training support to team members
Ideal Candidate
  • Years of relevant experience in Income Protection claims
  • Strong analytical reasoning and decision making capabilities
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of people and stakeholders
  • Works with a high degree of autonomy using strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise across multiple tasks to tight timelines
  • Has attained a professional qualification relevant to the role
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness
  • Track record of a positive, solution focused attitude
  • Organised approach and delivers on any promises made
  • Interest in ongoing developments in relevant medical care and rehabilitation options
  • Knowledge of the Risk, Control, and Regulatory Environment relevant to this role and ensures control mechanisms are in place to prevent any risk arising
  • Qualified or grandfathered status in respect of Claims Assessing under the Minimum Competency Code (grandfathered candidates to complete Claims Diploma or relevant qualification within an agreed period)
