Description

Your Mission

As a design engineer at Field, you will be involved in designing our battery sites from origination through development, planning, and construction. Your responsibilities include initial site identification, creating concept designs, and collaborating with legal and planning teams. You will own the site design during development, working with internal experts and external consultants to ensure safe and buildable battery sites. You will produce 2D site plans, equipment drawings, and 3D models using Civil 3D and REVIT, and lead design reviews in accordance with CDM regulations. Post-planning, you will assist in optimizing site designs for construction.

Within Field, you will gain exposure to cutting-edge battery technology, work with a team of UK and European experts, and contribute to global climate goals. The environment is fast-paced, offering autonomy and project control. As the company expands, you will help develop scalable design processes for the UK and Europe.

Key Responsibilities

This role offers broad responsibilities with significant impact. Key duties include:

  1. Lead designer on multiple large-scale BESS projects. Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to design sites meeting all requirements.
  2. Produce various 2D drawings and plans: Concept designs, site plans, single-line diagrams, planning application drawings, land plans, and pre-construction info.
  3. Create 3D site models: Use Civil 3D for site levels and earthwork calculations, REVIT for visualizations.
  4. Act as Principle Designer: Lead design reviews per CDM regulations.
  5. Review tender documents and data sheets: Enhance in-house design knowledge, focusing on technical, construction, and safety aspects.
  6. Review external contractor designs: Ensure compliance with permits, standards, and project requirements.
  7. Support data management system and process compliance.
  8. Train and share knowledge: With team members to foster continuous improvement.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • At least 3 years' engineering experience
  • Experience in the energy storage sector
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with Civil 3D and REVIT or similar 3D software
