Job Description

Our client Trafford council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Emergency duty team.

Duties

  • Provides emergency social work support for children and families outside normal office hours
  • Responds to urgent safeguarding concerns, child protection referrals, and crises
  • Undertakes risk assessments to ensure children's immediate safety and welfare
  • Makes emergency decisions regarding accommodation or protection of children
  • Works closely with police, hospitals, and other emergency services
  • Attends emergency strategy discussions and safeguarding meetings
  • Supports children at risk of harm, abuse, neglect, or family breakdown
  • Arranges emergency placements for children when required
  • Provides advice and support to professionals and families during crises
  • Maintains accurate records and handovers for daytime social work teams
  • Ensures all actions comply with safeguarding legislation and local authority procedures
  • Manages high-pressure situations and makes timely, informed decisions to protect children and young people
