Deputy Manager - Residential Children's Home

Salary: £36,000 per annum (40-hour contract) £42,000 per annum (48-hour contract) + Sleep-In Payments
Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
Location: Thorne, DN8

Qualifications and Experience
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within residential childcare
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or senior support role
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and childcare legislation
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Resilient, confident, and able to make informed decisions under pressure
  • Flexible approach to shift work, including evenings and weekends
  • Full UK Driving Licence held for a minimum of 12 months
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Registered Manager with the overall management of the children's home
  • Lead shifts and oversee the daily operation of the service
  • Supervise, support, and develop residential care staff
  • Ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained
  • Assist with care planning, risk assessments, reviews, and case conferences
  • Monitor and maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Promote positive outcomes for children and young people through child-centred care practices
  • Support behaviour management and emotional wellbeing strategies
  • Participate in the staff rota, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins where required
  • Act as the lead person in the absence of the Registered Manager
