The Position

As Chief Officer DPO at Van Oord, you will be responsible for vessel surveillance, security, loading and maintenance. You will be at the head of a multinational team of crew members. You will be working on international projects with a 5-weeks-on and 5-weeks-off sailing schedule.

You will be working on one of our wind installation jack up vessels.

Your Impact

In this role, you will independently lead offshore projects and collaborate with project management, client representatives, and your team. You will take on several key responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel and successful project completion. Your main tasks will include:

  • Leading navigation duties and ensuring all nautical operations are carried out safely and responsibly.
  • Maintaining onboard environmental regulations and overseeing safety equipment compliance, such as ISM & ISPS standards.
  • Consulting daily with the captain, project management, and client representatives to optimize production processes.
  • Training and coaching 2nd and 3rd Mates, as well as trainees on board, in a motivating way.
  • Handling the ship's administration according to Van Oord's standards.

This role is crucial in ensuring high safety standards and efficient project execution.

About You

You are a capable and experienced leader with strong technical and interpersonal skills. You are used to working independently and thrive in an international environment. Key skills and qualifications include:

  • Completed training as a Maritime Officer;
  • Extensive practical experience as Chief Officer;
  • Experience in working on a jack up vessel;
  • You must hold a DP unlimited certificate, a valid navigation licence, a muster book, and STCW certificates and you must have passed a medical (offshore) examination;
  • STCW courses completed and readiness to complete all recommended Van Oord training;
  • Proficiency in the English language at a professional level.
