We are currently seeking a Chief Medical Scientist / Chief Biomedical Scientist.

Please note: This is an on site position and is not a hybrid role. Flexibility around shift rosters is required.

The Role

As Chief Medical Scientist / Chief Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for the overall operations of the AutoLab and play a key role in maintaining the highest standards of laboratory testing and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall operations of the AutoLab.
• Maintain a high standard in laboratory testing and quality performance.
• Provide support to clients and colleagues to ensure a first class service.
• Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and skills as required.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and services.
• Lead and coordinate senior medical scientists, basic grade scientists, technicians and students.
• Ensure team allocation aligns with skills, training, experience and workload requirements.
• Promote open communication throughout the AutoLab.
• Manage rosters, workload organisation and task prioritisation to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
• Manage departmental training requirements and competency development.
• Take overall responsibility for overdue and urgent work files.
• Maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding patient, client and company information.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a medical testing laboratory.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a laboratory leadership role.
• Proven experience achieving and/or maintaining accreditation to ISO 15189 standards.

For Chief Medical Scientist applicants:

• CORU or PCPC registration as a Medical Scientist.
