Job Description

The role of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is a new National Director, Level III role within the HSE with responsibility for ensuring that the HSE is able to deliver services to the organisation and to the public in a secure and resilient manner. The CISO will report to the Chief Technology and Transformation Officer (CTTO).

The HSE is an Operator of Essential Services (OES) and the CISO will be responsible for driving forward a cyber security transformation programme with strategic and tactical cybersecurity improvements, managing third parties that provide cybersecurity services and leading the cybersecurity response to cyber incidents.

The CISO will be responsible for implementing and running the information security services and programmes within the organisation. This will involve security operations, as well as identifying, evaluating and reporting on legal and regulatory, IT, and cybersecurity risk to information assets, while supporting and advancing business objectives.

The successful candidate(s) will have on or before the closing date of 16th May 2024:

  • An appropriate educational qualification at Degree level.
  • Have a significant track record of achievement as a leader and senior manager in a large complex and technology dependent organisation whether health service or non-health service related.
