Job Description

EGG (Engage, Grow, Go) is a small, community-rooted homelessness charity based in Stockport, offering practical, person-centred support to individuals moving out of homelessness.

Withaclearethosaroundemploymentasaroutetostabilityandastrongtrack record of partnership with local employers, EGG helps people rebuild their lives sustainably and permanently.

The charity currently includes three Trustees, a core staff team of three (in addition to the CEO), and an annual income of approximately £250,000.

The organisation is at a pivotal moment. Following the departure of the previous CEO and a period ofinternalscrutiny, EGGis seeking anewleaderto guidethe charity through aphase of stabilisation, governance strengthening, and strategic development.

RoleOverview

The CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership, working closely with the Board of Trustees to ensure the charity's sustainability, compliance, and growth. This role requires a leader who can foster a positive organisational culture, support the small and dynamic staff team,implementrobustinternalproceduresandpolicies,anddriveforwardEGG'smissionto support individuals experiencing homelessness.

KeyResponsibilities

StrategicLeadership

  • DevelopandimplementaclearstrategicplanincollaborationwiththeBoard,staff,and stakeholders.
  • ActasanambassadorforEGG,representing and promotingthecharitytoexternalpartners,funders, and the community.

GovernanceandCompliance

  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations, including Charity Commission requirements.
  • WorkwiththeBoardtodevelopandmaintaineffectivegovernancestructures,policies, and procedures, and advise and support the Board on its responsibilities.
  • ReportregularlytotheBoardonorganisationalperformance,risks,andopportunities.

OperationalManagement

  • Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring services are delivered effectively and align with EGG's mission and values.
  • LinemanagetheTeamLeaderandprovidedirectiontotheentirestaffteam(currently three staff members).
  • Develop and implement appropriate systems for managing and allocating cases and sustainable workloads.
  • Implement robust performance management systems, including regular 1-2-1 staff supervisions and annual appraisals. Ensure all staff have annual performance plans and up-to-date job descriptions.
  • Foster a positive organisational culture that prioritises staff wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Leadonrecruitment,inductionandretentionofstaffandvolunteers,ensuringfairand inclusive processes.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Implement strong financial controls, ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements.
  • Secure adequate funds to sustain and build the charity's income, identifying and pursuing funding opportunities to diversity income streams.
  • Ensureallsafeguardingpoliciesareup-to-date,understood,andimplementedacross the organisation.

PersonSpecification

  • Provenexperienceinaseniorrolewithinthecharityorpublicsector.
  • Strongunderstandingofgovernance,compliance,andregulatoryframeworksrelevant to UK charities.
  • Demonstratedabilitytoleadorganisationalchangeandculturedevelopment.
  • Effective fundraising skills, including the ability to write compelling grant applications and to think strategically about income generation.
  • Confidenceinfinancialmanagement,includingmanagingbudgetsandunderstanding accounts.
  • Demonstrablecommitmenttosafeguardingandexperienceinimplementing safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Excellentcommunicationskills,withtheabilitytoworksensitivelyandrespectfullywith people from all walks of life.
  • Experienceworkingwithinthehomelessnesssectororwithvulnerablepopulations.
  • FamiliaritywiththelocalcontextinStockportandGreaterManchester.
  • Confident in public speaking, media engagement and representing the organisation externally.
