Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Kitchen Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will have a passion for food preparation, a strong understanding of kitchen operations, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene. This role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and a proactive approach to supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen.

Pay & Benefits

  • £13.00 per hour for the initial 12-week probationary period.
  • Upon successful completion of the probationary period, candidates will be offered a permanent contract with an annual salary of £36,000.
  • Rotating shifts, Monday to Saturday:
  • 6:00am - 2:00pm
  • 2:00pm - 10:00pm
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organise daily workflow to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently, methodically, and in accordance with hygiene standards.
  • Clean and maintain preparation areas, storage facilities, cooking stations, and equipment.
  • Operate kitchen machinery and equipment safely and in line with company procedures.
  • Prepare and cook products according to approved recipes and specifications.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate cooking temperatures and food safety controls.
  • Ensure no product is released to high-risk areas without authorisation from the Shift Chef.
  • Maintain accurate records of batch codes, use-by dates, and recipe documentation to support product traceability.
  • Assist with ingredient preparation and assembly for cooking operations.
  • Rotate stock appropriately and support inventory management activities.
  • Monitor the quality of cooked products and report any concerns promptly.
  • Inform the Shift Chef of operational issues or equipment faults as they arise.
  • Adhere to all company hygiene, health and safety, and food safety policies.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen assistants and other team members to support efficient kitchen operations.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the effective operation of the kitchen or wider business.
  • Be flexible in supporting other departments where operational requirements necessitate, following appropriate notice.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, catering, or food production environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking processes.
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine passion for food preparation and cooking.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift patterns and Saturdays.
