Pay: £17.28 per hour (Travel allowance provided)
Hours: 73.5 hours per week - 10.5 hrs per day
Rotation: 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off
Role Overview
As a Chef within the Sodexo Energy & Resources asset catering team, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality meals, maintaining exceptional food standards, and ensuring full compliance with health and safety guidelines at all times.
At the heart of the role is a strong focus on resident experience. Through consistently high-quality, well-presented dishes and a genuine passion for service, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where residents can rest, recover, and recharge. You will take pride in building positive relationships with residents, engaging with them during service to understand their preferences and contributing to a friendly, inclusive atmosphere that feels like a true home from home.
Working as part of a wider village team, you will support themed dining experiences, food led events, and wellbeing initiatives that bring variety and enjoyment to daily life. By listening to feedback and using it to influence menus and service delivery, you will play an active role in shaping and continually improving the overall resident experience, acting as a proud ambassador for Sodexo's Remote Living proposition.
What you'll do- Ensure prompt service of all meals in line with company and client standards and specifications.
- Prepare and cook food to agreed standards and required quantities.
- Maintain high food safety and hygiene standards, including temperature control and Food Safety Act compliance.
- Manage and rotate stock to ensure food safety, minimise waste and support cost control.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints and service issues.
- Maintain high personal hygiene standards in line with company and statutory requirements.
- Assist the Head Chef/Chef Manager in ensuring safe working practices are followed.
- Manage cleaning rotas and support kitchen organisation.
- Assist with menu planning and compilation.
- Ensure catering equipment is used, cleaned and maintained safely, reporting defects as required.
- Comply fully with Health and Safety legislation.
- Participate in meetings, training and development activities as required.
- Support budgeting, cost control and efficient use of resources.
- City and Guilds (or equivalent) 706/1 and 706/2.
- Certificate in Food Hygiene and handling of food (REHIS) - mandatory.
- Two years catering related experience.
- Ability to guide, support and monitor team activity where required.
- Experience in training and supporting colleagues.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to maintain high standards of conduct and performance within a team.
- Previous chef experience in a similar environment.
- Good rate of pay.
