Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust recognises and values the importance of volunteer support for our patients. We currently have a volunteer role available supporting the Communications Team at Sceptre Point in Bamber Bridge.
As volunteer expenses are limited to a 20 mile round trip, we are unable to proceed with applications if you live too far from the location you are volunteering for. To apply for this role you must have the Right to Work in the United Kingdom and reside in the local area.
Main duties of the jobThe aim of this role is to provide support to colleagues involved with the delivery of fundraising and charitable activity. Volunteers are expected to commit to at least one 4 hour shift per week, during normal working hours of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
A Standard DBS is required for this role and there is no charge to a volunteer for this.
- Support the Fundraising Manager in developing a long term Communications and Engagement Strategy
- Create content for social media channels, including photography, and provide recommendations for new digital opportunities
- Identify and cultivate new and existing case studies for use in publicity, fundraising materials or as lead stories for the local media, including contacting patients and interviewing them
- Copywrite for charitable activities such as website content, internal news stories, marketing materials and press releases
- Share new ideas for PR and communication opportunities
- Respond to enquiries politely and ensure an appropriate response is initiated
- Interact with donors supporting the charity
- Assist the fundraising manager in developing new communication channels to promote the charity and create integrated plans for fundraising activity, clearly identifying communications objectives such as target media and key message delivery
- Support staff in dealing with administrative requests
- Assist with design and marketing requirements using software such as Canva
- Right to work in the United Kingdom and reside in the local area
- Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check - no charge to the volunteer
- Availability to volunteer at least 4 hours per week during normal working hours
- Agree to volunteer on a voluntary contract basis (no salary)
- Compliance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) and DBS disclosure requirements
