About this role

As a Catering Manager at Sodexo in Oasis Academy John Williams, Bristol, you will play a key role in delivering an exceptional food service experience for pupils, staff, and visitors.

You will lead and inspire a dedicated kitchen team, ensuring nutritious, high-quality meals are prepared and served to the highest standards while creating a welcoming and positive dining environment.

You will take ownership of the day to day catering operation, managing food production, service delivery, budgets, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Working closely with the school and Sodexo teams, you will ensure the service exceeds expectations while maintaining excellent standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead and motivate a catering team to deliver an outstanding food service every day.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served to Sodexo standards, client expectations, and school requirements.
  • Manage food safety, allergen controls, hygiene standards, and compliance procedures.
  • Drive pupil engagement through exciting food activities, themed events, tastings, and promotions.
  • Manage stock, budgets, food costs, and operational performance.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, school leaders, and Sodexo colleagues.
  • Support team development through coaching, training, and positive leadership.
What we're looking for
  • Previous catering experience, with experience of leading a team.
  • A recognised catering qualification (NVQ Level 2 / City & Guilds 706/2 or equivalent). Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage budgets and achieve performance targets.
  • A proactive approach with a passion for improving customer experiences.
  • Experience working in a school or education catering environment is desirable.
