Job Description
Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a lawyer to join an in-house legal team supporting the corporate banking division of a leading global financial institution. You will be at the heart of strategic transactions, risk mitigation, and business contract oversight, working closely with product, compliance, risk, and operations teams. The position is based in Manchester or Glasgow, offering flexibility and the chance to work on high-impact projects that shape the future of cash management services.

What You'll Do

You will immerse yourself in a diverse range of responsibilities that span from providing day-to-day legal guidance on new product launches through to managing complex negotiations for high-value contracts. In this role you will:

  • Provide comprehensive legal support for the development and delivery of cash management services within the corporate banking division, ensuring all initiatives align with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements such as cash management contracts, service agreements, and related documentation to protect organisational interests.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory risks associated with cash management operations across multiple jurisdictions, helping to manage reputational risk effectively.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including product managers, compliance officers, risk specialists, and operations teams to enable product innovation while upholding legal compliance.
What You Bring

To excel in this role you will bring proven experience advising on matters relating to treasury or cash management products within regulated environments. Your background must include:

  • UK Qualified Lawyer or equivalent qualification is essential for this position as it ensures you have the foundational expertise required for effective practice within the UK financial services sector.
  • Ideally some knowledge of payment laws and systems as well as experience with cash management products will allow you to hit the ground running; however exceptional candidates from broader financial services backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • A background in financial services, acquired in private practice or in-house will provide valuable context for understanding client needs within corporate banking environments.
  • Demonstrated contract negotiation and drafting skills are crucial as you will regularly handle complex agreements central to business operations.
The Company

This organisation stands out as an employer committed not just to excellence but also inclusivity, fostering an environment where every colleague feels empowered to contribute their unique perspective. The legal team enjoys access to flexible working opportunities designed around individual needs alongside generous pension contributions that reflect long-term investment in employee wellbeing. Training opportunities abound: whether you wish to deepen your technical expertise or broaden your understanding of emerging trends within financial regulation there is ample support available at every stage of your career journey.
