Caseworker Team Lead (Visa Sponsorship Available)

Since 2023, we have streamlined the UK sponsorship process for thousands of individuals and hundreds of businesses. Backed by Entrepreneur First and Backed.VC, we are now scaling our operations and looking for an experienced leader to head our Immigration function.

The Role

As the Immigration Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing and scaling the Immigration function end-to-end. You will lead a team of 10 professionals, ensuring the delivery of consistently excellent, compliant, and efficient outcomes across Sponsor License applications, CoS requests, and visa applications. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Performance:

• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performance team of caseworkers and immigration professionals.
• Manage hiring, onboarding, and training as the department scales.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, team rituals (standups, case reviews), and career development planning.

Delivery, Quality, and Compliance:

• Own casework delivery standards, focusing on accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Implement robust Quality Assurance (QA) processes, including peer reviews and audits.
• Track key performance metrics: SLA adherence, approval rates, and customer satisfaction (CSAT).
• Act as the final escalation point for complex, high-risk, or urgent cases.

Operational Ownership:

• Manage resource allocation and workload balancing across various workstreams.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to automate manual tasks and improve workflow tooling.
• Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), playbooks, and training materials.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience: 8+ years in Immigration law, with a specific focus on Skilled Worker visas.
• Leadership: 4+ years of experience managing teams of lawyers, caseworkers, or paralegals.
• Qualifications: Minimum Qualified L1 IAA (or equivalent).
• Startup Mindset: Previous experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment is highly preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Comfortable with modern case management platforms, G-Suite, and communication tools like Intercom.
• Analytical Skills: Strong ability in metrics tracking, capacity planning, and workflow design.
