Caretaker (The Lantern)
Posted 21 hours 34 minutes ago by We Manage Jobs(WMJobs)
The Caretaker is responsible for providing a safe, secure, and well-managed environment at The Lantern.
Working as part of the caretaking team, the postholder ensures the building is opened, secured, and prepared for daily use, events, and meetings, while maintaining a visible presence and responding appropriately to any issues that arise.
Due to the nature of the building contract, the Caretaker does not undertake repair or maintenance work. Responsibility lies with identifying and reporting faults and ensuring that the appropriate procedures are followed. There may also be some additional duties across other sites, where required, or additional hours to cover holiday absence.
You will help maintain high standards of health and safety, respond to day-to-day issues in a practical and timely way, and contribute to the security, upkeep and presentation of the premises. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is reliable, proactive and takes pride in providing a high-quality service.
You will be a practical and organised individual with experience of caretaking, site support, facilities or building maintenance work. You will be confident carrying out routine checks, minor repairs, and day-to-day tasks that help keep a building safe, tidy and operational.
You will have a proactive approach, good awareness of health and safety, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, service users and members of the public. Reliability, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility are essential, particularly in relation to security, keyholding and maintaining a welcoming environment. Full training and support will be provided.
