Inspire ambition. Build futures. Transform lives.We are seeking an exceptional Head of Careers to lead and develop an outstanding careers education programme across one of our wonderful secondary schools.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced careers professional who is passionate about helping young people discover their strengths, explore their ambitions and confidently progress to university, apprenticeships and employment.
Working closely with senior leaders, pastoral staff, tutors, universities, employers and external partners, you will lead a high-quality careers programme that equips every student with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to make informed decisions about their future.
The RoleAs Head of Careers, you will:
- Lead the school's careers strategy and ensure delivery of an outstanding Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme.
- Provide individual careers guidance to students, supporting them through key transition points.
- Guide students through university, apprenticeship and employment pathways, including UCAS applications, personal statements and CV writing.
- Coordinate meaningful work experience opportunities and employer engagement.
- Organise careers fairs, higher education events, networking opportunities, employer talks and mock interviews.
- Build strong partnerships with universities, employers, alumni and training providers.
- Use careers data to monitor student destinations and evaluate the impact of the careers programme.
- Support students in making ambitious and well-informed choices that reflect their talents, interests and aspirations.
- Promote careers education across the curriculum, working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff.
- Ensure the school remains fully compliant with statutory careers guidance and inspection requirements.
- Has experience of delivering careers education and guidance within a school or college.
- Has an excellent understanding of UCAS, apprenticeships and post-16 and post-18 progression routes.
- Can build positive relationships with students, parents, employers and external organisations.
- Is highly organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Has excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Is passionate about raising aspirations and helping every young person achieve their full potential.
- Holds (or is working towards) a recognised Careers Guidance qualification, such as the Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development.
