The roleGlasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (GADRS) are seeking an enthusiastic, recovery focused individual to provide administration support, contributing to the smooth running of North West Recovery Communities.
The post holder will have lived experience of problematic alcohol and/or drug use, or be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting people with lived and living experience of alcohol and/or drug use. It is essential that the post holder is a proficient typist with excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to relate effectively to a wide range of disciplines.
The role involves processing referrals and enquiries on a daily basis using systems such as Microsoft Word and Excel, while also supporting the general functions and duties delivered within the wider ADRS Business Support section as required.
A broad range of administrative tasks form part of this role, including: telephone answering, reception duties, processing referrals, volunteer registration, minute taking, arranging meetings, supporting volunteers and recovery staff in preparing presentations, recording and monitoring budgetary information, and processing invoices.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern- Location based in North West Recovery Communities
- Full-time Position (37 hours per week)
- Permanent Contract
- Shift pattern for this post are Monday to Friday
- Provide a high quality administrative and secretarial service to the team
- General typing and audio typing of correspondence as require
- Maintain diary commitments; electronic diary systems, appointment systems and office information systems within the department
- Deal with telephone and face-to-face enquiries from all staff groups, service users, volunteers and partner organisations, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
- Receive visitors (including service users and members of the public) to the premises in a polite and helpful way in accordance with local procedures
- Book rooms using electronic or paper formats and ensure that rooms are set up appropriately
- Arrange hospitality where appropriate
- Receives and arranges the distribution of mail
- Processes mail for despatch using the appropriate method e.g. internal, royal mail or courier
- Monitors e-mail accounts as required and takes appropriate actions
- Receives deliveries and ensure that they are passed to the appropriate recipient
- Record accurate information as required
Essential:
- Must show competence in the use of a range of computer packages evidenced by experience or formal qualification e.g. ECDL
- Must show knowledge of working in an office environment and of operation of office equipment and systems
- Should be willing to participate in short courses or more formal training opportunities to improve skill level e.g. through achievement of SVQ in Administration at Level 2 or 3
- Requires good command of verbal and written English
- Requires knowledge of organisation and department - ADRS and Recovery Communities
Desirable:
- Experience of volunteering/working in partnership with Recovery Community
There will be an on-going requirement to have a personal development plan agreed with the manager which will include participation in training and development

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
