Job Description

Post Title: Business Support Administrator

SBU/Department: Marketing and Communications

FTE: 1 fte (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH4 £25,804pa to £28,778pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: MacLaurin Building, Hatfield/ hybrid (minimum of two days a week on campus)

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for an innovative Business Support Administrator to join our friendly team in Marketing and Communications. The Marketing and Communications Business Support team is responsible for the day-to-day running of the department by providing comprehensive support with business operations, such as human resources, finance and business continuity. In addition, we offer administrative support to the other areas of the department on an ad-hoc basis and manage the University student ambassador scheme, as well as providing direct support to Leadership within the department. We are looking for a proactive new member to join the team, who is excited by working on a wide variety of projects and providing excellent customer service to our staff and students.

Main duties and responsibilities

You will be undertaking a range of general administrative duties supporting the specialist functions within Marketing and Communications. You will be able to provide excellent customer service, acting as a point of contact for the department for external contacts and student ambassadors. You will be providing advice and support to colleagues across the University, as well as supporting on the development, implementation and monitoring departmental policies and supporting the Deputy Director, Assistant Director and other members of the Leadership team within Marketing and Communications as required. You will be working in the central Business Support team; however, you will have a wide range of contacts within the department, and across the University. In addition, you will be assisting at key University events throughout the year (such as open days, taster days and clearing).

Skills and experience required

For this dynamic role, you will have excellent organisation and IT skills, particularly using Microsoft applications. Proven experience of managing conflicting priorities and working to strict deadlines is essential. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to pay attention to detail and you will be committed to providing a high-quality service. You will be able to follow defined processes and be keen to collaborate and work with colleagues to solve problems. You must also be proactive and adaptable to team and workload requirements.

Qualifications required

You will hold five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English, or proven experience.

Educated to an A-level standard or equivalent would be desirable.
