Job Description

Your new career
The Business Strategy and Performance Team leads the development and implementation of effective measurement frameworks to enable the council to understand its impact and monitor its performance. Establishing effective governance, planning and reporting frameworks to support the whole organisation, they support service delivery excellence for our community.

Within this team, the Business Strategy and Performance Officer will support the organisation in driving continuous improvement in planning and delivery across all of council's services, while providing expert guidance and advice to our project teams.

What you will bring to the role
We are looking for a capable and collaborative Business Strategy and Performance Officer who is driven to have a positive impact on the work of our organisation, the services and outcomes that we deliver for our community.

To thrive in this role you will have:

  • An understanding of the role of local government and alignment between Community Vision, Council Plan, other key strategies, organisational purpose, direction and approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate outcomes in a group setting.
  • Strategic analysis, business improvement and project management methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse financial and other service use data for the purposes of supporting decision making.

Key selection criteria
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent extensive experience.
  • Experience in developing and delivering business strategy and planning processes or functions.
  • Experience working in complex multi-businesses or government. Previous experience in local government highly regarded.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - in particular, the demonstrated ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strengths in one or more of the key responsibility areas, with experience or capability to perform all key responsibilities.
  • Well developed writing, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • Broad knowledge of local government business functions.
  • Participation in a multi-organisation project, including the establishment of a shared services function.
