Business Intelligence Manager

Are you looking to join an ambitious team in one of the most complex and large NHS Trusts in the UK? Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and the 'Smart Together' Shared Service are embarking on an exciting transformation journey to develop common systems, processes, and procedures, and to embrace new ways of working to deliver procurement and efficiency solutions across South East London.

We are now looking for an individual to join our Systems and Data team within the Performance Excellence function of the Procurement and Supply Chain department.

Main duties of the job

The Business Intelligence Manager will manage a team to enhance the performance of our service, ensuring a well-functioning system landscape, identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing powerful and insightful business intelligence for the department and wider stakeholders.

Key Objectives:

  • Data & Insight Delivery: Develop a deep understanding of our Shared Service data architecture and use tools like Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and Excel to produce actionable intelligence.
  • Team Leadership & System Optimisation: Manage and develop a high-performing BI team, ensuring a well-functioning system landscape and identifying improvement opportunities to boost departmental performance.
  • Strategic Support: Translate complex business intelligence into clear reports that guide strategic decision-making, directly supporting world-class patient care.

Smart Together is a shared procurement and supply chain service hosted by Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust, one of the leading hospitals in the country, serving hospitals across South East London.

Smart Together currently provides its services to GSTT and four other NHS Trusts, namely Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, and South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

Person Specification Education and Qualifications
  • Relevant Master's degree or equivalent experience in systems and data, business management of procurement, or supply chain. Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP), Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, or SAP Certified Application.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Extensive management experience within the NHS or public sector.
  • Strong data literacy, including experience with business intelligence tools such as MS Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience supporting and enhancing project and operational performance, including developing and monitoring output and outcome measures.
  • Project management qualification or demonstrable experience in programme management and delivering large-scale projects.
Skills
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-stranded projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
