Job description

Boeing's continued success and growth is built on the philosophy of Continuous Improvement. This role will support our Vertical Lift Business Chinook and Apache Programmes, initially operating from Middle Wallop with regular travel to Wattisham, Gosport and RAF Odiham, Hampshire. The role combines facilitation, coaching, training, project management and project delivery. It supports a range of Improvement / Change Initiatives and collaborates with customers and suppliers.

As a Business Improvement Specialist in Lean / Process Improvement methodologies you will coordinate initiatives and projects across manufacturing, aircraft maintenance, engineering, supply chain and other business functions to deliver benefits in safety, cost, quality and time. You will engage with front line workers and senior management, facilitate workshops, conduct independent investigations, and coordinate productivity / process improvements. You will also coach, train and mentor employees to develop high-performance work teams.

Responsibilities
  • Hands-on workshop / continuous improvement event facilitation
  • Hands-on project support, reporting, recording and presenting updates and outcomes of improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to identify and contribute to delivery improvements as per business priorities
  • Provide expert knowledge in Lean / Continuous Improvement Methodologies
  • Utilise the Company Productivity and Quality Improvement Systems, including training and coaching others in those systems
  • Train, coach and mentor employees to develop Lean / Continuous Improvement competencies
  • Assist employee teams to develop metrics in support of process improvements
  • Contribute to Productivity and Quality improvements
Basic Skills / Education / Experience
  • Excellent Stakeholder Management skills with the ability to engage and inspire cross-functional teams at all levels
  • Project management, financial and commercial awareness with the ability to inform Business Cases
  • Coaching & mentoring skills to develop Lean / Continuous Improvement competencies
  • Confident facilitator able to work and influence in a matrix structure
  • Experience organizing and facilitating improvement activities from 1-day to 5-day events
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Knowledge of a variety of continuous improvement methods and tools
  • Ability to analyze data and produce meaningful recommendations for improvement
  • Ability to obtain UK SC
Preferred Skills / Education / Experience
  • 10+ years' experience in Aviation MRO, Manufacturing or Defense Services, with a track record in facilitation, project management and Lean / Continuous Improvement systems
  • Proven success in delivering tangible improvements and working with teams and stakeholders to influence productivity and quality
  • Relevant education in Project Management, Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Operational Excellence, Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent
