About the Team
This role sits within the highly successful global sales team responsible for the long-term sustainable growth of MWC Barcelona, reporting to the New Business Development Director. We are 40+ salespeople working on a portfolio of highly successful exhibitions, conferences, media, and intelligence platforms.
We benefit from access to connections and relationships made by the rest of the sales team and the wider GSMA's advocacy, technology, and promotional work. GSMA's influence within the connectivity industry is far-reaching, providing a platform to source new clients for the Events business.
About the Role
This is a new business sales role requiring someone with excellent commercial awareness and a natural hunter style. MWC Barcelona has high client retention and rebook rates. As we look to grow beyond the Telco industry and with the opening of a large new Hall at Fira Gran Via, there is a need for a more targeted approach to new business. The successful candidate will use various communication platforms & methods to source new opportunities, uncover needs, and recommend suitable solutions. A consultative approach is essential.
This role involves creating and proposing tailored solutions for clients, ranging from small exhibition stands to complex, multi-product, high-value packages. The target clients may not be familiar with GSMA or MWC, so confidence and credibility in pitches are crucial.
About You- Experienced sales professional in events and media industry
- Knowledge of connectivity and telco landscape is advantageous but not essential
- Knowledge of adjacent sectors (fintech, manufacturing, automotive, healthcare) is a plus
- Hunter mindset, motivated by winning new business and partnerships
- Ability to create detailed proposals and identify opportunities
- Autonomous, self-starter attitude
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Computer literacy, ideally with Salesforce, Microsoft 365, LinkedIn, and Sales Navigator
