GBRX is the strategic innovation body for Britain's railway. Our purpose is to overcome the barriers to the adoption of technology across the track and train to improve how the railway works for people and create more sustainable skills for the future.

Are you ready to shape the future of Britain's railways? We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Lead to make it happen.

About the role

This isn't a standard business development role. You'll be at the heart of unlocking funding, forging powerful partnerships, and influencing strategy at the highest level. From developing compelling investment cases to working directly with government, funders and industry leaders, your work will directly impact how the railway of tomorrow is built.

The post can be based in London/York but there will be a need for regular Travel.

What you'll be doing

We are looking for someone who can:

• Lead the charge on securing funding and driving growth for GBRX's most exciting priorities.
• Build and influence partnerships with government bodies, funders, and innovation partners.
• Shape GBRX's funding and regulatory strategy for upcoming control periods.
• Spot bold new opportunities for collaboration and collective success across the rail sector.

About you

We are looking for someone who is ready to Network and develop strong relationships with stakeholders and key contacts.

You will bring

• Skilled communication and relationship-building, with credibility across government, industry, and investors.
• A proven track record in winning funding, investment or strategic business development.
• The ability to cut through complexity, influence at senior levels and bring people with you.
• Commercial acumen and creativity - you know how to turn strategy into results.
• Experience in developing and executing funding strategies or strategic plans
• Energy, ambition, and the drive to make a real difference.
• The ability to navigate complex organisational environments, collaborate and convene people from across many fields
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks, control period planning, or strategic business planning
