About the Role As Business Case Lead for the Te Waipounamu Region, you will lead the planning, development, and assurance of business cases for infrastructure enabled investments across the region. You will ensure alignment with Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora and IIG governance standards, and drive the quality, consistency, and strategic impact of investment proposals.You will provide expert oversight of feasibility studies, economic analysis, multi criteria analysis, and risk assessments. You will translate complex financial, technical, and strategic information into compelling business case documentation that supports sound investment decision making.This role plays a pivotal part in shaping early stage investment planning and improving the business case development capability across the region. About the Team/Service/ Location The mission of the Health New Zealand Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG) is to provide the safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment that are essential for a well-functioning health system. The IIG leads investment by understanding and managing these well, ensuring health facilities, sites, and equipment with the highest need of investment are prioritised and standardising the way these are delivered, maintained, refurbished or redeveloped. About you You are a skilled and strategic professional who understands how high quality business cases drive meaningful investment decisions. With experience in complex infrastructure or public sector environments, you're confident navigating financial modelling, detailed analysis, and strategic planning. You know how to bring clarity to ambiguity and can translate complex information into clear, persuasive narratives that support strong decision making.You build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and bring a calm, thoughtful approach to your work. You're proactive, organised, and committed to improving processes and contributing to smarter, more effective investment planning.You value collaboration, clear communication, and thoughtful leadership. Your approach is grounded in integrity and professionalism, and you care about contributing to a health system that supports better outcomes for communities. You Will Bring A relevant degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field 6+ years of experience in business case development, financial analysis, or a related infrastructure sector role Strong background in business analysis including Multi Criteria Analysis and Cost Benefit Analysis Demonstrated ability to produce high quality, persuasive business cases aligned to governance requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, strategic insights Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
