Job Summary

The Building Services Engineering Design Apprenticeship includes a degree qualification in Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) and a qualification leading towards Incorporated Engineer status. Work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get hands on experience. You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work

  • Actively participate in the company mentorship program, as a mentee.
  • Work towards BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering. Provide assistance to the team and other Design Staff as follows:
  • Size Building Services Engineering systems to suit regulations, standards and requirements provided by Design Staff.
  • Perform calculations for mechanical (heating, cooling and ventilation loads) and electrical (lighting levels, circuit sizing etc).
  • Ensure portions of Introba's quality assurance design requirements are being followed.
  • Ensure Introba's drafting standards are being followed.
  • Set up Revit models or AutoCAD drawing files.
  • Maintain AutoCAD files and Revit models.
  • Co ordinate mechanical and electrical services in drafting software (assistance provided by Design Staff as needed).
  • Detailed check of work prior to returning finished product to Designer.

Training

An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

Your training course

  • Building services design engineer (degree)
  • Equal to Level 6 (Degree with honours)

Requirements

  • A Level BBC - Must include Mathematics and preferably a Science in either Chemistry or Physics (UCAS points: 112)
  • T-level (Merit or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying And Planning. (UCAS points: 120)
  • BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 128)
  • BTEC Level 3 National Diploma D D in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 112)
  • Building Services Engineering Technician level 3 apprenticeship DD (UCAS points: 96) alongside grade Pass or Distinction at EPA. Please get in contact with the LSBU Apprenticeships at for Apprenticeships Routes.

The Building Services Engineering Design Apprenticeship includes a degree qualification in Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) and a qualification leading towards Incorporated Engineer status. Building services engineering covers the design, installation, operation and maintenance of all the things that make a building safe, comfortable, energy efficient and functional. It's always in demand and set to grow as buildings' designs evolve to become more sustainable.

Training will be conducted on site in our Oxford office based in Milton Park, Abingdon.
